ARIZONA: Company choreographers are invited to apply for the Wickenburg Residency with the opportunity to pursue new projects, mount work, or collaborate with other artists, free from everyday pressures. These residencies are intended for chamber dance companies. Previous dance companies have included American Ballet Theatre II and Northwest Dance Theatre. MASSACHUSETTS: Artistic Director Mikko Nissinen has re-envisioned Marius Petipas Raymonda as a one-act ballet for the Boston Ballet’s Winter Experience Program, featuring new choreography and costumes. The program also premieres Helen Pickett’s seventh work for Boston Ballet, SISU, which takes inspiration from the Finnish word for will, determination, and perseverance. NEW YORK: Trisha Brown Dance Company continues to expand its creative vision with its second-ever commission, a new work by French choreographer Noé Soulier titled In the Fall. AUSTRIA: In Marie & Pierre, Bobbi Jene Smith opens the stage to two lovers and a swarm of characters who take turns telling their side of the same story. The American choreographer, who spent nine years dancing with the Batsheva Dance Company, is one of the most interesting new voices in the contemporary dance scene. AUSTRIA: Unter Boden is a 50-minute dance evening by SILK Fluegge that moves into the past and into the future. Under the choreography of Silke Grabinger, it explores the Austrian-Jewish choreographer Gertrud Bodenwieser, who fled to Australia, and her piece Dämon Maschine from 1923. CANADA: The National Ballet of Canada’s Winter Triple Bill offers a rich journey into different dance forms in one exciting programme, which includes the Canadian premiere of Suite en Blanc; the world premiere of acclaimed Canadian choreographer William Yongs futuristic UtopiVerse; and Emma Portners riveting duet islands, which marks the National Ballet debut of one of Canada’s most innovative and versatile dance artist. DENMARK: The company Convoi Exceptionnel premieres the The Weather Report, a new performance about turmoil, turbulence, and stability – an existential story about the relationship between psychiatry, aviation, and the ever-changing weather. ITALY: La Scala’s Madina is a new project in both its approach and its themes, current but universal, and rarely expressed in ballet. The events, based on a true story, revolve around a young girl named Madina who grows up in a land devastated by a war that claims her parents. With choreography by Mauro Bigonzetti and music composed by Fabio Vacchi to the libretto by Emmanuelle de Villepin from her novel La ragazza che non voleva morire, it is a work of both dance and theatre, where words, song, music, and body come together. NETHERLANDS: Nederlands Dans Theater’s The beauty of it all program offers NDT 2 performing 27’52” (2002) by Jiří KyliánMinus 16 by Ohad Naharin, created for NDT 2 in 1999, and a new face to the company,  Maxine Doyel who will create a world premiere. NETHERLANDS: Dutch National Ballet’s Dancing Dutch brings together four choreographers. For the first time, Dutch National Ballet is dancing a creation by Jiří Kylián. POLAND: The Grand Theatre Poznań presents an evening of a dozen short choreographic pieces created by dancers of the theater’s ballet company. POLAND: The Silesian Opera’s ballet company presents its newest production, the Polish premiere of Macbeth based on the famous play by Shakespeare. The choreography is created by Monika Myśliwiec to the score based on Verdi music prepared by Tomasz Tokarczyk. Macbeth is the universal story of the passion and the lust for power. POLAND: Polish National Ballet Warsaw’s Creations 16 is the 16th edition of the workshops for emerging choreographers, who are members of Polish National Ballet. SWEDEN: Carte Blanche launches a new world premiere, Retro Cat, by esteemed artist and composer Tori Wrånes. Retro Cat is a performance where set design, sound, light, and dancers merge into a lively and surreal experience. SWEDEN: Andersson Dance's upcoming work is a co-production with Backa Teater in Gothenburg. ODYSSÉEN is based on Homer's epic poem about war, love, and longing. UK: Phoenix Dance Theatre will embark on a UK tour with a brand-new mixed programme – BELONGING. The program includes two world premieres – Miguel Altunagas Cloudburst and Marcus Jarrell Willis’ Terms of Agreement. The world premiere will take place at Leeds Playhouse on February 21, 2024. Watch:

UK: Royal Ballets Festival of New Choreography is a series of performances, events, and activities taking place across the house that embraces and champions new, diverse voices in choreography. The festival, which will take place on the Main Stage, in the Linbury Theatre, Paul Hamlyn Hall and Clore Studio, is part of The Royal Ballets commitment to choreographic innovation and nurturing the future of the art form.


Five new works have been commissioned by The Royal Ballet for the Main Stage. Joseph Toonga (The Royal Ballet Choreographic Residency for the 2023-24 Season) creates his second work for the Main Stage. Making their choreographic debuts in the space are Gemma Bond, Jessica Lang, Mthuthuzeli November and Royal Ballet First Artist Joshua Junker. In the Linbury Theatre, The Royal Ballet premieres an immersive work by Robert Binet that imagines the invisible forces of our universe in human form. ITALY: The Culture and Tourism Council of the Municipality of Padua, in collaboration with Circuito Multidisciplinare Regionale Arteven, announces the 15th edition of the Prospettiva Danza Teatro International Competition, created and directed by Laura Pulin, in the context of the Festival Prospettiva Danza Teatro 2024. NETHERLANDS: The fifth edition of the Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition (RIDCC) is the only annual dance event for choreographic talent in which a duet competition is the centerpiece.
