Critical Writing
Choreographers often want and need feedback. They seek it from friends and colleagues, but they frequently look to the professional critic, for an unbiased critical response in published form — traditionally in print-based newspapers and magazines, and these days, frequently online. Some dance critics write from a distance, others have grown up in the field and may have been dancers or choreographers themselves. Whatever their background, many provide an in-depth critical reading of a choreographer’s work from their own perspective, criteria and evaluation.
